New Workflow Task Created Everytime a Lead is Save

I have created a workflow rule that creates a task for the lead owner when the Lead Status is set to a specific value. I have chosen to check the rule when the lead is created and modified, since this specific lead status may not be the specific status when the lead is created.

The issue is that if the record is edited and saved when the lead is in this specific state, a duplicate task is created.

First, I understand this is "works as designed"..... I just wonder if there is a way to set the workflow to create the task ONLY on the first save or ONLY when the status is first set?
