A brief overview of our recent release

Hello everyone,

We are here with two exciting feature updates in today's forum post. Let's take a look at both of them in detail.

Create Projects in CRM without Account

Earlier, it was mandatory to have an account in order to create projects inside CRM. With this enhancement you can create projects in CRM even if the contact is not associated with an account. When you create a project, the user's name will be assumed as a dummy client in Zoho projects and every project that is created for that contact will be listed under the dummy client's name.

In future, if the contact is associated to an account, the account will be merged with the client's company in Zoho Projects and the client's company name will be updated with the new account name. For example, if Patricia Boyle is associated to an account named "Zylker Inc.", in Projects, the client name "Patricia" will be replaced with "Zylker Inc." However, in case an account is associated with more than one contact, you will not be able to create projects as there will be a discrepancy in merging the clients in Projects.

Introducing Picklist Tracking History

We have introduced this new feature where you can monitor every small update in a picklist field and keep track of the traversal of the picklist value. In addition to this, you can also see the changes in the related fields and their values with respect to a record's transition to different stages.

Let's say a sales manager wants to find out the reason for the stagnation in the lead conversion process in his company. He can use history tracking for the picklist field "lead status" and easily figure out how long a lead was at any particular stage and take the necessary steps to overcome the issue.

Additionally, in case he wants to keep track of the amount at every quote stage, all he needs to do is enable history tracking in "Quote stages" and choose "Amount" as the related field. The varying amounts at different quote stages will be displayed.

A few important points to keep in mind while working with the picklist history tracker:
  • You can select up to 10 fields to be displayed in the Picklist History related list along with the 4 default fields (Picklist values, duration, modified time and modified by).
  • You can filter the records based on the duration, with the help of the smart filter option.
  • History tracking for picklist values is not supported in the Activities module.
  • If the tracking option for a picklist field is disabled, or if the picklist field with the tracking option enabled is deleted, then all the tracked data will be lost permanently.
  • Tracking will not be enabled for the picklist field created in other modules from Leads, Quotes and Sales Order using the "Also create for" option.
  • In Deals module, you will not be able to choose any specific field as the existing tracking system will be followed.
