A list of small, intuitive things that Zoho Books can do!

Hey there, we're an Indian startup and we're coming from Quickbooks -- and we have been using Quickbooks since the last three years. The reason Zoho books caught our attention is because of the GST auto-filing via APIs.

We're currently on trial and the support that people receive here from Zoho is amazing. 99% we will on-board Zoho Books, but we are just having the cold feet because we're so used to Quickbooks and will miss certain features from there.

Here's a list of small, intuitive things (well, just 3 at the moment) we are missing in Zoho books, and are requesting for implementation at the same time (if not immediately, at least 1-2 months down the line):

  1. You cannot print individual expenses
We have been printing and maintaining every expense. We record the expense in the system, print it and attach the physical receipt to it and file it away for good. However, we didn't find an option to print invoices here.

  2. TDS calculation on the invoice
Our client's lives become easier when they know how much amount they have to pay to us and how much amount has to be withheld as TDS. Not present in Zohobooks. After a lot of searching, I found that you can atleast record the amount withheld as TDS during payment; but again, we have to manually calculate this so this is a pain for us too.

  3. Remittances -- no auto-calculation of exchange rate while recording payment
This is the most simplest request of all. Payments arrive later than the day that the invoice is raised but the receive payment considers the rate of the day that the invoice is raised. Also, the exchange rate will never match because banks have their fees etc etc. So, a simple thing to do here would be to give us an option to match exchange rate. Basically, divide the total invoice amount in foreign currency by the total base currency (INR in my case) and set the exchange rate in the field. Life becomes a lot easier.

And we're web developers, so I'll even list out what we appreciate a lot about Zoho Books; and where Quickbooks is lagging far behind --
  1. API-based GST filing
  2. Developer friendliness
  3. Automation
  4. Webhooks <3
