Any one have suggestions for using time reporting feature

I was hoping to use the time reporting feature but I am finding a few oddities.   I was hoping that someone using it could offer tips about how they use it.  The area that seems most lacking is the reporting side.    As a simple example, I found the only way to see who is reporting time to a project is to show their picture (and/or hover over the field in the report).   I would like to be able to see the actual name quickly.  It also doesn't seem to do any grouping so if I wanted to know how many hours Bob has spent across the various projects, there is no way to do that.   I can go into a specific project and see it, but not across projects.  In fact, the nice pie chart of hours spent goes away when not at the project level. 

Are the gaps intentional?  That is, if we upgrade to the reporting version (enterprise), do we get more features?
