Auto-Sync Field of Lookup Values When Parent Record Changes

Hi Zoho Team,

Currently, when you use a "Field of Lookup" in Zoho CRM, the value is captured as a snapshot at the time the lookup is set. If the parent record is later updated, the Field of Lookup value on the child record does NOT update and stays stale.

This creates serious data integrity issues, especially in scenarios like:

  • A Contact's "Account Industry" field pulled via lookup. If the Account's industry changes, the Contact still shows the old value.
  • Deal fields pulled from Account tier or pricing go out of sync silently with no warning.
  • Reports and workflows built on these fields then operate on incorrect data.

What we're requesting: An option (toggle per field) to make a Field of Lookup either:

  1. Static (snapshot) - current behaviour, kept as-is for those who need it
  2. Live / Auto-sync - the field automatically updates whenever the parent lookup record changes

This is a non-breaking change since it would be opt-in per field. Many users have raised this in the Field of Lookup announcement thread and it keeps coming up repeatedly. It would significantly increase the reliability of CRM data across reports, workflows, and blueprints.

Please consider adding this. It would make Field of Lookup genuinely production-safe for complex implementations.
