Calendar challenge

I have entered several tasks to be completed within my project via tasks and milestone.
After assigning the user, start and completion dates, the task displays on every date in the Calendar view, between the start and completion date. Example: New task= create bylaws, Start May 15th completion July 15th. after submission this task shows up on every day in the calendar between May 15th and July 15th. What did I do wrong?
