Conditional X-Axis Dates in Reports

Conditional X-Axis Dates in Reports

I have a report that tracks some activity on a monthly basis. Is there a way to adjust the x-axis of months to a custom range like July 2012 to July 2013? Or is there a way to only display months that have data?.
