Customer portal in zoho creator

Good morning,
I read about CUSTOMER PORTAL in zoho creator help.when I tried that I can able invite users through their mail and they are able to set their password from their mail.but I don't able to know the purpose of sign up form in customer portal.Is it able to embed the sign up form in webpage?
