Dependencies between Milestones and Tasks

Hi - not sure whether it's a problem with my understanding of the software but I can't seem to create dependencies between my tasks and their respective milestones. Surely, I should be able to create milestones and underneath them the required tasks to be completed to meet that milestone? I'm currently on a trial of the free version if that makes any difference (3-days). any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks
