Hi there
Two requests please.
These relate to any Edit page layout for any [module]
1. Blank Space or Spacer for the edit layout.
Firstly It would be great if in the edit page layout we could drop in a blank (field label) or a spacer block so that we can maintain a specific format or look to a completed page in a specific module.
This is not only for aesthetics, it also helps for those of us who for our clients who might for instance have a very specific order in which the data entry needs to be verified or entered required during a call. It also means you can adjust for those long "Multipick lists" in one column where you might want only a specific field opposite and need "spaces" to match the length of opposite column.
2. "Create new" for any [module] show missing fields (as an option)
When you click on create new for any module, it brings up a page that does not really match the final edited page. We can understand why, for instance an "Auto-number" would not necessarily be needed to be shown at this stage of data entry, along with "Modified by", "Created by etc". However, invisible fields not being displayed at the time of data entry throws the formatting out.
For example I may have at the top right hand column in the final view of a "Potential" an "auto number". When I click "create new potential" it isn't there, that means all the fields in the right hand column will now move up one
Is this a problem, yes, for some of our clients. When the formatting is thrown out by 1 space block on either the right or left hand column suddenly not being there means during the "create new" interrelated fields (with dependancies) don't match up, and in a sales workflow or service call workflow this becomes an issue. Incorrect data could be entered or the whole process slows right down.
There is an answer yes we could have single column pages with single column entry but that just means there is more scrolling to find information. Once again clients will be looking for aesthetics and lets face fit any people coming over from SF would used to the option of a 2 column view.
Propose
That you could have an option globally to switch "on" display "hidden" fields in the create new for all modules or even individually by module. So would assume that when you click on "create new" for whatever module the create page would be identical to the finished page. Obviously the data such as the "auto number" or "created by" does not have to be displayed just the field reference or even better just a blank where the data will be.
Finally
Generally speaking having worked with folks in call centers, keeping everything visually consistent greatly reduces data entry errors dramatically.
Thank you to the ZOHO teams for your great work. I think you do an amazing job.
I would be happy to discuss this further with Zoho people, and would welcome feedback relating from other users.
