Filter report by non year specific month

Hi I have an application which includes a dropdown field to select which month the service is due on that record, what I would like is a report to only show the records that the service is due this month and next but the only way I can do it seems to be with a hidden date picker which is updated by the dropdown and then updated regularly via schedules to update the year but this is a very long winded way of doing it and it's susceptible to all sorts of issues...

There must be a better, simpler way?
