Form Automation not working on script update of decision box!

I'm trying to dynamically limit the number of subform rows allowed based on number field in form.

I have setup form automation to hideAddEntry in subform on a decision box. This works when I manually click on the decision box. However when I use scripting to update the decision box, form automation does not work. Is this default behavior?
