How can I add a barcode number to each field, that will pull a specified feild when barcode is scanned?

How can I add a barcode number to each field, that will pull a specified feild when barcode is scanned?

I  want to add a barcode to my records , so that when the barcode is scanned it will automatically pull up the corresponding record.  Is this possible?
