Milestones

Milestones seem important in Zoho Projects and in other similar programs. We are trying to find a way to use milestones so we have access to features like closing a task or archiving it. But "Milestones" don't seem especially related to the kind of work we are doing. We have lots of small tasks in ZP, rather than a few big ones, and this seems to generate more clutter and make it less easy to use milestones. Is it reasonable to set up milestones such as March 2010 Done, in order to have little boxes in which to archive tasks and put them out of sight? Or is this not a reasonable way to use milestones?
