Why is form text so big now?

Hello,

One of the things I don't like about the new UI is that fields on forms use such large text (unless it's a notes field where I've adjusted the size). However, recently I noticed that even in the old UI the text is all really big. Under settings, there are only two choices "Medium" and "Big" and they're both too huge. Can we please revert to the previous, normal font sizing? Or at least give us better control over this? Space is already a premium on a two-column layout, and this new size and only makes it much worse (horizontal scrolling is nobody's idea of good usability). Please advise.
