To any writer, the option to make changes brings a level of flexibility and reassurance that little else can. Especially if you can pull up older editions of your writing. And that's exactly what article versioning in Zoho Desk's Knowledge Base lets you do.
Versioning helps track and manage all the revisions you've made to an article. Any time you change the body of an article, a new version is created. Here are some benefits of this feature:
- You can compare any two versions of an article to see what changes have been made. The differences are color-coded, and there's a record of who made each change.
- You can restore an older version of an article if need be. When you restore an old version, a new copy of that draft becomes the most recent version.
- You can add notes to existing versions of an article, so others with access to the article have a better understanding of the changes.
With article versioning, you just can't go wrong! You can read more about how it works
here.
Often, an article's URL might need some editing, too. We all know the feeling of realizing we've made a mistake only after we hit "Publish". With Knowledge Base, you can change the URL at any point in time. But what if you've shared the old link in way too many places? Don't worry. Zoho Desk lets you set up 301 redirections from the old link to the new, so you don't have to worry about losing readers to a broken link. This way, your SEO credentials and page rankings are safe too.
Please note that while you can edit the URL of an article as many times you want, redirections can be applied to a
maximum of three older URLs. You must delete an existing redirection to add a new one. Learn more about this
here.
Both article versioning and 301 redirections go live today, so you can enjoy a smooth authoring experience with enough room to make changes.
Cheers,
Team Zoho Desk
