Hello App Creators,
We hope you're all having a great 2019. Here's a little something from us to add a bit more shine to it.
In the first week of February, the Zoho Creator team will be rolling out the following feature updates:
- Navigational buttons in calendar and timelines reports
- Ability to execute custom actions after a confirmation
- Interactivity in the reference-listing popup that appears while deleting fields and components, and enabling/disabling certain properties
In addition to our changelog, we'll leave a comment below as each of these updates are rolled out—please keep your users informed about them.

Navigational buttons in calendar and timeline reports
Availability : Zoho Creator 5 and accounts using the New UI
To further improve navigation when users access calendar and timeline reports from web browsers, we'll be introducing view-specific pickers and rearranging the navigational buttons.
Here are the UI level elements that will change in these reports:
- New view-specific pickers in the top-right corner.
They enable navigation by the view you're using. For example, when you access the Month view in a calendar report, the picker will enable navigation across months.
They enable you to jump up time spans. For example, when you access the Week view in a calendar report, you can navigate to whichever week you want, rather than moving one week at a time.
- Today button will be near the top-right corner of the report. Currently, it's at the top-left corner.
- Previous and Next navigation buttons will be near the top-right corner of the report. Currently, they're in the middle.
- Buttons to access the Month, Week, and Day views will be near the top-left corner of the report. Currently, they're at the top-right corner.

Ability to execute custom actions after a confirmation
Availability : Zoho Creator 5
While accessing reports, it's not uncommon for users to accidentally click or tap on custom actions. Many of you have experienced this and would agree that getting an additional confirmation from users helps. Don't worry—we feel your pain.
Now, while configuring a custom action, you'll get to choose if its workflow will need confirmation from the user to execute. When your users click on a custom action that requires a confirmation, they'll see a popup containing:
- Message : This is the text that appears in the dialog.
- Confirm button text : It's Yes by default. Clicking this will execute the workflow.
- Cancel button text : It's No by default. Clicking this will cancel execution and close the dialog.

Interactivity in the reference-listing popups
Availability : Zoho Creator 5
When you go about deleting a field that's referred to in an app, Zoho Creator doesn't allow you to delete it right away. It lists the places that field is used—like lookup and formula fields—workflows, reports, custom actions in reports, and pages.
A pain point here is that you have to take note of the references, handle them accordingly, and then initiate field deletion again. Well, that's no more.
The popup that lists these references will be revamped to:
- Clicking VIEW against a reference will open the respective component in a new tab. This will enable you to view and handle the field's usage without having to close the popup.
- Clicking the Refresh icon will list the places where the field is currently used.
- The Proceed to Delete button will be enabled when the field's no longer used in other fields and components.
This interactivity will be available while:
- Deleting fields, forms, reports, and pages
- Deleting apps
- Disabling Capture location and Capture IP address form properties
- Enabling and disabling the Encrypt data field property
