Writer ends support for Internet Explorer Versions IE8, IE9, and IE10

Microsoft has discontinued support for the older versions of Internet Explorer (IE8, IE9 and IE10) since January 2016. This means that you will no longer receive security updates and technical support for these versions.

Starting from today, Writer will also support only the most recent versions of Microsoft browsers Internet Explorer 11 and Microsoft Edge. When you access your Writer document with these older versions, you will be taken to the read-only mode, by default.

Using older versions of Internet Explorer may expose your data to potential risks. Regular security updates are required to keep your data safe from malicious attacks. If your organization is dependent upon these older versions, please consider upgrading to Internet Explorer 11 or Microsoft Edge immediately to get better security and improved functionality.

Writer supports the most recent versions of the following browsers:
  • Chrome (25 or later)
  • Firefox (22 or later)
  • Mac only: Safari (5 or later)
  • Windows only: Internet Explorer 11 and Microsoft Edge
