The task dependency view is so cumbersomely designed that it is almost too difficult to use for it to be helpful. Many tasks need to be sequential, but may not have defined dates on them, and even when dates need to be defined, the sequential order often is known before the dates are known. If you could improve the interface on this, perhaps even adding a select predecessor field to the task definition interface, it would greatly improve the functionality of the tasks and dependency views. For date conflicts, just highlight the dates as problematic. Also, dependent tasks should be allowed to start on the same day that a predecessor is scheduled to be completed.
