Candidate Mass Email

Can you just please confirm, in the new version, if we want to send out an email to more than one Candidate, we cannot free-type an email?? It appears we have to create an email template first, then send (although we cannot even see the actual content of the email before it is sent!). If so, this is massively frustrating
