Can't generate thumbnail previews from Twitter posts

Hi

I've copied a link to a Tweet (https://twitter.com/tomfishburne/status/1244301595057086464?s=20) but, when I try to paste it into a new post in Social I get the message "Unable to generate thumbnail preview for this URL". I have to post the unshortened link which is shown as a URL instead of the thumbnail - nowhere near as effective.

What governs whether a thumbnail can be generated or not?
