The new version of the CRM App has an issue.
The logging of calls changed in the browser of the CRM and it looks like the latest version of the app these changes have come accross.  The issue is you have these added fields like Caller ID and Number called (if its auto logging not sure why you would need this).  
Than has "Purpose of Outgoing Call with the fields Call Purpose and Call Agenda
Than you have "Reason for Incoming Call" where you can type in the Description - but the call im logging is an outbound call.  We also had the Description area marked as mandatory - but I can no longer mark the field mandatory and people are putting in the description in the Call Agenda (which doesnt work because ALL of our reports run on the description field)

I have found you can revert back by clicking "Switch to Smart View" but I can still see my description is not mandatory and that is just an extra click our users will have to do to get to the description area.  
Is this going to be fixed?
