Deprecation of Marketplace functions
We would like to inform you that Marketplace functions will be deprecated by the end of December 2024. Currently, the Marketplace supports the development of functions that can be used in extensions within HTML and resource JSON files. However, due to security concerns, we will be slowly phasing out this functionality.
We encourage our existing users to
migrate to Sigma Functions, which offers enhanced features such as multi-DC support and direct API invocation, enabling developers to create simpler scripts.
Why Sigma functions are replacing Marketplace functions
- Multi-DC support: This enables the installation of public extensions across various DCs, including EU, IN, US, SA, CN, and JP. This enhances global availability by ensuring that the functionalities and services provided by these extensions are accessible and consistent regardless of the user's location.
- Direct API invocation: Sigma functions allow you to invoke the API directly with the necessary parameters, unlike Marketplace functions that require you to construct form data, header maps, hashes, and more.
- Efficient response handling: Sigma functions fetch the API response directly in a single iteration, while Marketplace functions involve nested iterations.
Benefits of Sigma functions
- Dynamic domains: Developers can obtain domains in a dynamic manner by utilizing keys like service_domain and sigma_domain, which simplifies the process and ensures reliability since the domains are acquired dynamically.
- Return type specification: This allows you to specify the return type of the function in Sigma.
- Integrated editor: Sigma functions are embedded within Sigma, making it easy to create extensions and navigate smoothly.
You can continue to use your existing Marketplace functions until December 2024, but please note that their usage will be deprecated by the end of the year.
