Display User Name Instead of ID

I would like to include a field in my analytics tables to include the name associated with the ID. For instance, in activity table we need to include the user name associated with the user ID instead of the ID. Can someone advise how to accomplish this? It's easy for the activity owner, but not the "Modified By" field. I've confirmed that the two tables are indeed linked.
