Email notifications on new file upload?

I am not sure whether I am asking too much or not. But I am just trying my best to provide some feedback so that we can make this application much more stronger and better than the way it is. (No, I don't meant that it is bad or anything)
Can we have some kind of email alert option for the clients? This will be very much helpful for the clients.
Take this example:
Current Scenario: If an employee uploads new documents related to the client's project. The files gets uploaded but client will never know about it. He will have to keep on checking the application to track the process of this project.
Scenario with alert option: Employee uploads new documents, client will instantly get an email with information of new uploaded file. Client will login, check the document and post the comments on it.
The point here is, adding email alert option will just make life lot more easier.
I hope you got the point.
