We have a quarterly billing report that we generate from our Requests.  It exports to excel.  However if we need to add a formula (something as simple as a sum of the column), it doesn't read the dollar amounts because the export stores them as text instead of numbers.  I have to manually remove all dollar signs and convert the amounts to be stored as numbers or accounting to get the formula to total the amounts.  Can this or will this fixed in the near future?  I would think that if a report can generate a sum total of a column then those amounts should be stored as numbers not as text.
