How do I create a time field?

How do I create a time field?

I want a field that only records time. I can only see how to create a date-time field. If I do that and enter a time, without a date, nothing is recorded.

If I create a number or decimal field, I cannot use it in time calculations.

All I want is a field where I can record something such as at 10.30.
