Locking document during collaboration

At any time during collaboration, it is required to lock other collaborators from updating the document. Owner of the document can "temporarily" lock the document from being updated by anyone.

This lock feature allows to prevent the document temporarily from being changed by those shared users or collaborators in the document.

Here:
 
  • Only the document owner  can lock or unlock the document.
  • Collaborators on the document can see locked document, but they cannot edit the data.
  • Collaborators on the document can see the changes made to the document by the owner.

To lock or unlock a writer document while collaborating, you can follow the below steps:

1. Open the document and click on the Share button in the toolbar.
2. Select Check-Out/Check-In to Lock/Unlock the document.



When a document is locked by the owner, it displays the locked status at the top-bar of the document for the shared users.
