New feature request: Allow copy of email message to another folder

Hello Zoho team,

This is a suggested new feature to allow copy an email message to either another folder or the same folder. Within the same Zoho account. 

This is not a support request about "label". This is a suggested new feature to allow copies of the same email messages.

Benefits for Zoho:
  1. Increase Zoho's income.
    How? Because copies of email message means the clients will use more storage. In turn, the clients are more likely to either upgrade their plan from free to paid, or buy additional email storage for their paid plan.
  2. Be more competitive with Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Yandex
    All Zoho competitors that I know of support copying email message into multiple folders. Competitors including, but not limited to, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Yandex. With both their IMAP and webmail.

User story

As a Zoho client, I need to be able to copy an email message to another folder(s) within my same account, so that I could:
  1. Use Zoho email services. 
    Instead of using the competitors of Zoho. All Zoho competitor that I know of support copies of the same email. I use this feature daily with other email suppliers. 
  2. Reduce risk of missing important emails
    I often create filter. On incoming email. Some email are copied and stored into various folders. On some of those folders, I set various type of automated notifications. 
  3. Reduce clutter
    Often I need to search and view email messages separately. My prefered way of doing this is by copying the same email to multiple folders. In comparison, when I cannot copy the same email, my folder feel cluttered with other email that are not of present interest.
  4. Easier and faster to use Zoho Mail
    With Zoho accounts with large amount of emails. For example, millions of email messages within the same account, with large amount of automated rules, it is much easier to do and update automated operations with folders than labels. Using labels for this is too slow to use and too much work. 
  5. Increase compatibility across devices and IMAP clients
    All IMAP clients that I know of have very stable support for folders. In comparison, labels are often either unstable or need supported.
  6. Easily track and receive notifications
    For tracking purpose. In need to keep some email in the inbox folder. While at the same time, automatically store copy in various other folders. When using multiple devices, on the first device, I have it configure to notify me only on new email in folder 1. Another devices notify me only on new email on folder 2. And so on. Then on each device, I need only an offline copy of that email folder(s) and its email(s). It is very quick and easy to do this with Betterbird/Thunderbird IMAP. 
  7. Include all search results per folder
    For example, after publishing job offers for multiple roles. Often a same candidate might quality for multiple job offers. I need to be able to store multiple copies of the candidate email into multiple folders. For example: Engineer, Lead, Manager, Quality Assurance, Trainer. In the future, when searching each folder, I need the same candidate to be included in multiple folder.
    In other words, for the same need to be able to copy files to more than one folder on my computer or cloud storage service.
  8. Increase security and privacy of my shared folders
    For example, I need to share one email in two different cloud storage folders. Each folder has different permissions. Which allow different persons to access different folder. Some emails need to be copied to two folders. Other need to be copied to four folders. And so on.
  9. Easily search my copy of emails stored locally in PDF format
    I need to export and archive all my folders structure as is but in PDF format. I am able to presently do this with Zoho. But the challenge is that email is only in one folder. I need that email to be in multiple folder. In other words, multiple PDF file. Then search to PDF by folder.
  10. Restore email messages deleted by accident.
    When in good faith, by accident, I delete a valuable original email message, I am able to quickly and easily use the copy to restore it into the original folder.

Manage risk

If somehow Zoho has any concern about allowing copies of the same email message within the same account, I suggest this:
  1. Adding a new checkbox in the Zoho Mail configuration page. For example "Allow multiple copies of the same email message within this same account". By default, this box would be checked. So no change for already created Zoho accounts. But interested users could uncheck this box. When unchecking this box, the user could be presented with an automated warning. About accepting the risk with copy of email.
  2. If allowing copies of the same email would interfere with other Zoho feature, simply use the checkbox above, and add a warning "Allowing multiple copies of the same email would automatically deactivate X, Y, Z features. If you approve this, click on [I accept the risks button below].".
