number of unread mails doesnt display in the parent folder

number of unread mails doesnt display in the parent folder

When a subfolder is put inside a parent folder and marked in filter , If a new mail is routed to that sub folder . No of unread mails in the sub folder must be displayed in the parent folder . Total number of mails is unread in the sub folder(s) which are present under that particular parent folder.
