Partially billing for timesheet time entries tracking time written off by project task

I am trying to understand how I might go about better managing my client project billing.

I track time logs in PEOPLE which is then integrated to BOOKS from where we do the invoicing for client projects.

Our projects will have estimated hours set against the project tasks and I want to keep track of the actual hours worked, hours billable and billable and hours estimated. The problem is we can keep track of the billable Vs non-billable hours as we enter time but there is another situation, we wish to manage.

This is where we come to invoice the client and we will see that for the current billing period we logged say 40 billable hours against that project task. If I decide to write say 15 hours off I change the invoice line item to 25 hrs but I now need to identify the hours that I have written off for the life of my project.

I am unable to find any means of changing this without either editing individual time logs which is not very efficient or managing the hours outside of Zoho BOOKS and/or PEOPLE.

Has anyone identified a straight forward process for managing this or am I simply too fussy and need to face the fact that there are just somethings you still need to track manually?
