Please Help! Zoho Docs Won't Allow Document Uploads. The Error Message "Special Characters" Pops Ups

I've attempted to upload and drag/drop Word documents - .doc and .docx - as well as .txt; none will progress.

My guess is the special characters referred to are tables, lines, special fonts, etc.  The documents are résumés; therefore, I need those items to stay.

Is there anyway to get around this or can I simply not upload these documents?
