Pop 110

Is there a way to enable standard POP (port 110) temporarily? i am trying to setup a email account for a wordpress autoblog and the hosting server i am currently using does not yet support php-imap to access POP/IMAP SSL. I am working to get this changed but it may take a while. thanks.
