Reconciled transaction(s) cannot be deleted

Reconciled transaction(s) cannot be deleted

Hi
  I am trying to delete a customer payment which was entered incorrectly. We had matched it to bank statement but in order to delete it we unmatched it. But we still get the error "Reconciled transaction(s) cannot be deleted" when trying to delete the payment. Please help.
