When using Recurring Invoices there is no way to handle T&M work for projects in a manner that aligns to how the real world works. Many companies have Recurring billings for project time but the way it's setup in Zoho Books today, you can only bill "to date" on recurring. This means if you wanted to bill your customers on the 15th of the month for the prior months time, you can't do that.
Most professional services organizations need several days at least to review and approve timesheets so the idea you could perfect have timesheets ready is unreasonable. Having the additional option to select the billing range would be ideal.
For example, in the above scenario you would populated:
- Repeat Every = Monthly
- Start On = X/15/23
- Associated Project = Project X
The additional fields required would be along the lines of what we see in the normal invoice module with some changes:
- Toggle option to select either Bill up to or Bill from
- If Bill from is selected, you need to provide an option whereby instead of selecting a calendar for the prior month, you instead provide To and From fields with 2 values per each
- Field 1A2/A = Months in Arrears (default of 1 but could be 0 or more than 1)
- Field 1B/2B = Day of Month (Options should include 1 through 31 along with the option of Last Day + Last Sunday, Last Monday, Last Tuesday, Last Wednesday, Last Thursday, Last Friday, Last Saturday and maybe some other variations like First Monday, etc)
