Same-day dependencies?

When I try to add tasks that should be completed on the same day, but have their own dependency chain, I get the error "Enter valid dependency."

I understand the constraint that is being enforced, but it's made it extremely difficult to break down projects as granularly as we'd like. Any way to circumvent this or resolve it?
