Search function not consistent for ppt, pdf and xls

Hello,

Just wondering about the content search function of the three extensions above.
For example, in one pdf file, it has both the words depth and China. If I search for China, I can find the file, but if I search for depth, I can't. Also, does the full content search support pptx and .xlsx extensions?
