Task Inline Editing Enhancement
Hi All,
Today, we have made an enhancement in task inline editing. In 4.0, task edit is moved in a single screen in a pop-up. We designed this in-order to make the task edit across the product to be the same. Let it be in Feeds, Tasks & My Tasks tab, Calendar & My Calendar tab, a click on the task title will open the popup and user can edit the values. Customers pointed us the inline editing was very useful to them & how much they miss that in 4.0. Based on the feedback, we have rolled out this enhancement.
With this enhancement the users can edit the values of Owner, Start Date, End Date, Duration, % complete etc within the list view.
We have provided the inline editing option in Classic View of Tasks tab. We are happy to announce that the inline editing is also provided in "My Tasks" classic view, which was not there in 3.0 version.

As Mani said, our thought is to make the task editing similar across the product i.e in a detail popup page. We understood the heavy usage of the inline editing option and rolled out the enhancement.

A BIG thanks to Adrian for taking time to explain the difficulty in details. We haven't thought about multi-edit for plotting a workflow ( point 2 in the post ) when we decided to remove this. We thought consolidating all updates on a detail page will make it more easy for users. But Adrian explanation helped us understand the exact problem users face without that. This post helped us understand the usage & implement the feature back in 4.0.
