The shortcomings of separate development

The shortcomings of separate development

We have an idea: add all the functionality of Zoho Books to CRM or all the functionality of CRM to Books and you have a great product.

It's time for Zoho to akcnowledge that the current separate development strategy for products is the wrong approach from a functionality point of view.

True, you can foster parallel development of products if you have a master design from day one that calls for true integration. But when you try to integrate very differently-conceived products as an after thought, you end up with segregate systems that are inferior to customers' needs.

Take for instance the lack of security in Books. An employee has access to "everything".

The question is, will Zoho listen to simplicity or will the company continue to believe that is in the right product management strategy despite all complaints and advise from customers?

It frustrates us that we can't have a simply managed payment module in CRM, especially after we were lured to the Professional version because it had "Invoicing". If you added a simple payment module to CRM to complete the invoicing cycle, we would be willing to go Enterprise. Neither Books nor the separate Invoices products are usable, nor secure nor functionable enough.

This is our experience, and it hurts to like a company as Zoho so much, and at the same time have this feeling of frustration for its shortcomings. Anyone recommend another CRM product with true Invoicing integrated? Any experience with myerp.com ?
