We use Zoho Books and Zoho People for our consulting firm. Our consultants bill 85% or more of their time to clients and we have projects and tasks setup in Books for that. What we need is a place to track time for things that are not client specific, such as training or internal meetings.
We were thinking of setting up our company as a "Customer" in Books and then assigning a non-billable project to that customer with tasks for meetings, training, time-off, etc. The goal was being able to use reports to ensure that consultants are logging at least 40-hours per week and hitting their target percentages of billable time to their clients.
Is there a better way to do this? Any gotchas about taking this approach? We also looked at the HR module, Zoho People, and it has a time tracker that includes projects but it doesn't appear to be linked to Books but could be linked to Zoho Projects. Unfortunately, we have to use our client's preferred project software so this is not an option.
