Using Mac Mail on OS X (10.10.3)

Been having issues with both checking and sending email for a few days. Have deleted and re-added the account, verified username and password are both correct, as are SMTP settings.

 I can log in and send via the web interface.

The server is reporting this error when using the mail client..

The server response: -ERR USER NOT AUTHENTICATED

Please advise
