I need the standard deviation to be calculated for the data set, but I cannot make sense of how to do it.  I found the function and selected the column and rows in it I want and it puts them in the parenthesis and says REF#.  I tried checking the reference page for it, but it said DSTDEV(database_table; field; criteria_table).  I assume I enter it that way, but even with their explination, I have no clue what database_table and criteria_table table are or the correct format for entering them.  I am used to SPSS but have no access to it at the moment.

Please, I need this for my thesis and I would do it by hand, but there are too many entries for that to be feasable.
