We’re back with another 'Accounting On-the-Go' series, and this time we will explore how Zoho Books simplifies your inventory management using the Barcode scanning feature.

Efficiently managing your inventory is a crucial aspect of running a successful business. It's essential to keep your products organized, maintain accurate records, and streamline your processes. Barcode scanning is one of the powerful features to achieve all of this and more.

Scanning Barcodes to Create Items:
Imagine you run a retail business, where you frequently update your inventory with new products. When you receive a new item, simply scan its Barcode using the app. Zoho Books will automatically populate the Barcode details in SKU field, saving you time and reducing errors. You can then complete the remaining information and save it as a new item.

Quick Item Search:
Once the items are created, you may want to make changes to their details. Searching for items among those with similar names can be challenging. With Barcode scanning, you can search for items in the "Item" module by simply scanning them. This lightning-fast search method saves you time and helps you easily locate the items you need.

Effortless Transaction Processing:
Now, let's put this feature into action with a practical scenario. Imagine your retail store has a wide range of products, each assigned a unique Barcode. When customers make their selections, you can use the Zoho Books app to scan the Barcode easily to add the item in your transaction, like a sales Invoice. This makes your checkouts quicker and more accurate, as there's no need for manual searches or data entry.

How it works in Zoho Books iOS app:

     Open the Zoho Books iOS app
     Navigate to More >> Items
     Click the "+" icon to add a new item
     In the SKU field, tap the scan button to scan the Barcode of your item
     The SKU field will be auto-populated
     Add any additional details and save the item
     To search for an item, go to the item module and tap the "scan" button next to the search bar. Scan the Barcode, and the corresponding item will be listed
     For creating a transaction, let's consider an Invoice. In the Invoice creation page, tap the “scan” button beside the "add new line" option
    Scan all your items, and the total scanned number will be listed. Tap "Done," and all the items will be added to the items table. You can add any necessary details and quickly save the transaction.

How it works in Zoho Books Android app:

     Open the Zoho Books Android app
     Navigate to the side panel>> Items
     Click the "+" icon to add a new item
     In the SKU field, tap the “sca”n button to scan the Barcode of your item
     The SKU field will be auto-populated
     Add any additional details and save the item
     To search for an item, go to the item module and tap the "scan" button next to the search bar. Scan the Barcode, and the corresponding item will be listed
     For creating a transaction, let's consider a Bill. In the Bill creation page, scroll down to items table and click on “add new line” option. Now, scan the Barcodes to add the items
     Tap "Save," to save the items
     You can add any necessary details and quickly save the transaction.
