Any Trick? Combine Single and Double Columns In a Form

Hello- Just started playing with creator and I've run into a design challenge within forms:

Right now, a form can only be a single or double column. Does anyone know a trick to have both in 1 form? Its a bummer to take up tons of vertical space for small entries like a checkbox or date and I find my forms as strangely tall.

Or, is there a way to have multiple fields side by side?

Anyone have a suggestion?
