Combining Date and Text to make a string

Combining Date and Text to make a string

Dear Support
I have a Date string that I wish to combine with a text string to make a formula field by. I cannot see how to do this?

ie date 23-Feb-08
text abc

combined abc-23-Feb-08

Can you help?
