The idea seems fine but I am having problems getting what I expect. Can I chat with someone about how to set up a pairing matrix?

 

Okay, here is what I need. I need a simple database that has the capacity to allow a person to identify themselves (by email and general location ... say city and country of the world) and then they can list the cheeses they like and the honeys that they believe pair well with them.

 

Because each cheese has certain characteristics we want to capture (hard, soft, for example, as well as color, texture, etc.), we need to have some drop-down menus for core elements of each cheese. Then a similar introduction of each honey and the ability to use menus to select from core characteristics of the honeys too.

 

I have no problem with each person being able to list just one honey and one cheese together, but I want to be able to cull from the data a listing of which cheeses go with which honeys, etc. I'm not sure how to ensure that people use common names or types so I was going to allow them to call the cheeses and honeys whatever they want ... then we would have to go back later and clear it al up.

 

Anyway .... I tried creating a sample ... but am not sure how to display it or how people can look at it.

 

Any suggestions for an easy way to do this? Also, I'm pretty programming and data-management dumb so simplicity in the way to do it would be nice ... or even a model to copy or transform.
