Creating a prioritizable to-do list

I am really enjoying this software. I did run into a snag - I'd like to be able to use records in one table to represent tasks and have some (simple) way to reorder them.

I can set a numeric field "Priority" and edit it to change the displayed sort view but opening each record to modify the sequence is very cumbersome. Can you think of a way to permit the user to change the sequence of records in a list?
