Creator API access question

I'm trying to access Creator via a REST request and am having issues with the authentication. If I'm logged in then the request goes through. I can't find documentation though on how to pass an auth token with the request. I was under the assumption that the api key is enough for authentication. I'm kind of a newbie to this though.
