Creator View Grouping/Sorting

It appears as though sorting trumps grouping. Say for example I have Field A, B & C. If I group on Fields A & B but sort on Field C, then my results appear strictly as sorted on Field C, with no regard to grouping. I would expect to see them sorted *within* the groups.

Since the grouping fields are not available for sorting once they are specified as grouping fields, I see no way to accomplish sorting within groups.

Hopefully I am mistaken. Please let me know.
