Data lost upon deletion of linked lookup source values !
Hi,
I have formA with a list of fruits, formB has a lookup field (dropdown) in which fruits can be selected.
formB is populated with data.. Field1 Birds Field2 fruits.
What I did:
I exported the list of fruits from FormA. Copied the data, and imported it back to FormA.
After this I had 2 entries for each fruit in FormA, one list was the original list, and after that was the recently imported one.
When I deleted the original Form A fruits entries (earlier ones),
All the fruits entries they were referring in form B became blank!
And this, even though at all times, there was a matching entry in FormA, matching Value, but different unique ID.
Are the databases internally linked by the Zoho UniqueID?
Why didn't it prompt me while deleting the list of fruits on FormA, especially if they were Uniquely Referred in FormB ?
This is a huge disadvantage, data just disappearing even through passive editing of the lookup source!
However there are instances where, on edition (not deletion) of the source, the old data remains intact in the referred Form.
For example:
On deletion of Grapes in FormA, in FormB:
Sparrow Grapes becomes Sparrow --Blank
On edition of Grapes to Sour Grapes in Form A, in FormB:
Sparrow Grapes remains as Sparrow Grapes
although subsequent entries are given as Sparrow Sour Grapes
Please provide a solution in which to isolate/unlink a lookup Field, and permanently store data in FormB, so that FormA can be edited and updated safely. And also, if there could be an option where the user is prompted BEFORE ANY POSSIBLE LOSS OF DATA, a lot of hard earned numbers can be saved from the database.
Thanks
